2024 Engineering Conference.

The 2024 Engineering Conference, organized by the Malawi Engineering Institution (MEI), took place from September 12 to 13, 2024, in the lakeside district of Mangochi, Malawi.

The conference was officially opened by the State Vice President, Dr. Michael Usi, as the Guest of Honour.

“Evaluating the Engineering Profession – Driving the Attainment of Malawi 2063”

The core focus of the event was aligning local engineering practices, infrastructure development, and technological advancements with the long-term national development goals of Malawi 2063 (MW2063)—which aims to transform the nation into an inclusively wealthy and self-reliant, upper-middle-income country.

• National Development Alignment: Deliberations centered heavily on how the engineering sector can scale its standards, ethics, and innovation to support the industrialization and infrastructural pillars of Malawi 2063.

• Collaboration & Knowledge Exchange: The gathering brought together local and international practitioners, government officials, and private sector representatives to discuss sustainable engineering practices.

• Corporate Support: The conference was highly supported by leading industry players, including a K10 million sponsorship from construction giant Mota-Engil, handed over to MEI Chief Executive Officer and Registrar, Engineer Arthur Wengawenga.
