The Malawi Engineering Institution (MEI) has officially announced the 2026 Engineering Conference, scheduled to take place from 27–28 August 2026 at Sunbird Livingstonia, Salima. The annual conference will bring together engineers, policymakers, industry leaders, academia, development partners, and other stakeholders to discuss engineering’s role in driving Malawi’s industrial transformation.
This year’s conference will be held under the theme:
“Engineering – Africa’s Next Economic Frontier: Strengthening Malawi’s Industrial Capacity.”
The conference aims to explore how engineering innovation, technology, and professional collaboration can contribute to sustainable industrial development and economic growth in Malawi and across Africa.
Participants will engage in discussions around two key sub-themes:
Building Capacity, Driving Innovation: Engineering for Sustainable Growth
Engineering the Future – Innovation, Inclusion, and Resilience
The conference will also provide an opportunity for professionals to network, share experiences, showcase innovations, and strengthen partnerships across the engineering sector.
Registration fees are as follows:
Early Bird (up to end of July): MWK 1,400,000
Standard Paid-up Members (August): MWK 1,600,000
Non-Paid-up Members: MWK 1,900,000
International Delegates: USD 800
The registration fee covers conference memorabilia, lunches, and dinners during the two-day event but excludes accommodation.
As part of MEI’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme, participants can earn up to 3 CPD points, comprising 1.5 CPD points for AGM attendance and 1.5 CPD points for attending the two-day conference.
The 2026 Engineering Conference is expected to serve as one of Malawi’s premier engineering gatherings, fostering dialogue on innovation, industrialisation, and professional excellence while reinforcing the critical role of engineers in shaping the nation’s future.
